JPiX is committed to building sustainable local economic ecosystems by supporting Corporate Transformation (CX) and Digital Transformation (DX), with 'productivity revolution' as its core theme.
Sustainability of Regional Economies
Local, community-based economic ecosystems—centered on the service industry—account for approximately 70% of Japan’s GDP and 80% of its employment, making them a fundamental pillar of the national economy. However, many companies in these sectors face productivity challenges due to factors such as labor shortages, lack of expertise, and insufficient capital. In addition, the manufacturing sector that supports regional economies continues to face a challenging business environment amid globalization and the weakening of traditional supply chain structures in industries such as electronics and automobiles.
Low productivity in these industries leads to low wages and unstable employment for workers, contributing to declining birth rates and population outflow from rural areas. As such, local economic ecosystems are facing a crisis of sustainability, making this an issue of critical importance for Japan’s future.
